The County jail facility, at 25 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio  opened on November 1, 1978 at a construction cost of $7 million. The rated capacity for the jail is 112 inmates.

The jail consists of 5 floors with a capacity of 30 inmates each. The jail also houses female inmates in separate cell blocks. One unit can house up to 15 female inmates.
